UR Students Give Free Medical Treatment
Pekanbaru, http://www.unri.ac.id – As a form of community service, student of Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau, especially in collaboration with UR BEM held a charity giving free treatment to underprivileged people in the district of Bukit Raya, Pekanbaru, Sunday (19/12). This free treatment immediately greeted by enthusiastic residents who came to the event held by student.
Chairman of UR BEM Adi Hamdani said that the social activities is one manifestation of Tridarma Universities, community service. Surely this devotion is directed to the appropriate target, especially the poor who need treatment and care.
“In this social events, UNRI targeting more than 300 medical residents at the event,” said by student of FMIPAUR. He added, in this free medical treatment there are also three doctors who will examine the health of residents seeking treatment. Later, people who seek treatment can do counseling with a doctor who is related to its illness. “This event was held from morning till noon,” he said.
According to him, even though the Pemko already provide free medical treatment at a health center, but still many people who can not use it, especially those who do not have identity cards (KTP) of Pekanbaru.
That, makes people difficult to get access to free medical residents. Especially in Pekanbaru, the majority of the population are immigrants who come from various regions in Indonesia. “With this free medical treatment, we hope that citizens can get access to free medical treatment and also for the students are expected to increase the sense of solidarity and concern for others,” he hoped.
This program, he said, is also expected to change the perception of students who had been by some are the intellectuals who love to have fun and do not care for others. Supposedly, students especially in UNRI have a high level of concern, especially when it comes to humanity. “Every disaster, we are always the first to garner support,” he said.
